About the Book

It is our good fortune that Chachaji, despite his multifarious preoccupations, found time to write about his life. His autobiographical writings are presented in this book—which give us glimpses of the chequered life of this fiery patriot, illustrious educator and disciple of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

His autobiographical fragment on his early years in the Vahalee village is a social historian’s delight. With his inborn rustic humour and poetic temperament, Chachaji recalls the days of hard work, plentiful agricultural produce, the trusteeship mentality of the villagers and the complete communal harmony that existed in those days.

For the benefit of the reader an effort has been made to arrange the articles in an approximate chronological sequence with reference to the events recounted in them. But as the pieces were written over a span of about four decades, depending upon time and mood, the book cannot serve as an autobiography.
